Lori Bongiorno Green, Greener, Greenest Make Eco-Smart Choices Part of your Life Lori Bongiorno is a journalist who was on staff at BusinessWeek magazine for 6 years before becoming a freelance writer. She has written about the environment for The Green Guide and Glamour, Verdant, and Plenty magazines, among others.
Lori Bongiorno, author of Green, Greener, Greenest, will speak to a general campus audience about what individuals can do to help the environment - Gleeson 202 at 11 am. See the book website and Ms. Bongiorno's biography at
Lunch with Ms. Bongiorno immediately after her talk at approximately 12:30. Lunch is limited seating and by invitation only for students who are interested in taking a leadership role in the formation of a new Green Team Club which will focus on campus and other environmental issues, and faculty, other clubs with similar interests, and staff who want to act as club resources or advisors. Ms. Bongiorno will speak informally of the knowledge gained while researching her book about campuses that are addressing environmental issues. Those interested in attending the lunch should contact Dr. Paul Kramer in the Physics Department kramerpr@farmingdale.edu.

Hope Deferred - Documentary Film on the importance of Stem Cell Research - Brooke Ellison will lead a discussion following the showing of the film. Brooke Ellison was the focus of the late Christopher Reeve's film project titled The Brooke Ellison Story. Last year Brooke ran for public office while pursuing her doctorate at Stony Brook. She is active in the education and awareness of stem cell research. This event is co-hosted by Professor Nancy DiMonte of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. All are welcome.

| Joseph Graffeo Why Music? Sound Bytes from the Ancient to Today The evolution of music from pre-history, through ancient Greece, and up to modern rock. Joseph Graffeo has a Ph.D. in Musicology from Columbia University, is an orchestra conductor and composer, has recorded on the pipe organ, and taught at the Julliard School of Music and the SSMA Festival in Sienna Italy.
Dr. Graffeo will be introducing his new spring 2009 music course, MUS108 - Survey of Western Music, with this concert & lecture on Farmingdale's nine-foot Steinway grand piano.

Richard Lloyd Richard Lloyd was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but grew up in New York's Greenwich Village during the 1960s. He attended Stuyvesant High School, but upon deciding to become a guitarist, he threw away all of his textbooks and began taking his guitar to school. His best friend as a teenager was friends with Jimi Hendrix, so they ran around a lot with famous rock stars.
